The Riverside Unified School District Instructional Services Division is committed to increasing student achievement by ensuring access and success to a rigorous, standards- based curriculum for all students.  In this pursuit we support site level administrators and teachers by:

• teaching and modeling the basic concepts of a Professional Learning Community

• assuming collective responsibility with teachers, administrators, and support staff to support high levels of learning by each student in all content areas through active engagement in a challenging, standards-based instructional program

• guiding curriculum development and textbook adoptions that are aligned to state content and performance standards

• designing, providing, and supporting staff development that is responsive to student, teacher, and administrative learning needs, current research, and changes in policy

• encouraging and supporting the effective use of technology to enhance teaching and learning

• recognizing excellence in teaching, learning, and leadership

• promoting vertical articulation and the delivery of an aligned K-12 curriculum

Additionally, we partner with parents and community by:

• working closely with schools to provide current and relevant information to parents regarding the curriculum and instruction

• providing a current curriculum website that conveniently directs readers to pertinent information and access to instructional services staff

• presenting instructional updates and student achievement reports to the Board of Education and the community.

• providing and promoting parent education and parent involvement opportunities

The instructional services staff works year around to plan and provide the support that schools need to be able to offer a quality education for every student.  We embrace the challenge and responsibility for continuous school improvement and welcome feedback, observations and suggestions from our clients – students, parents, staff, and community.
